CRYSTAL WIKEN

The SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN) named Crystal Wiken, digital marketing coordinator at BOLT Lock, as the newest #SheIsSEMA spotlight member.

Wiken has worked for BOLT Lock for two years and has enjoyed learning more about the automotive industry and helping to promote BOLT Lock out in the field. Learn about her career in her interview with SEMA below.

SEMA: What is most challenging part of running your business or job?

Crystal Wiken: The most challenging part of my job is keeping up with all of the new trends in the industry. However, while challenging, this is also the most fun part of my job.

SEMA: What are three qualities that got you to where you are today? How have these qualities benefited you?

CW: Being organized, detail-orientated and personable have been my qualities I've found have benefited me the most in my job. It's been a lifesaver to stay organized while working on multiple projects at once, detail-oriented while creating content for digital marketing campaigns or writing TV scripts, and being personable while connecting colleagues and networking at events.

SEMA: Who are your role models or mentors in the industry? How have they helped you along the way?

CW: I'm still learning and growing in the industry, however, one role model that comes to mind is our very own BOLT sales manager, Jason. He has taught me many things about different parts of the industry and I take his input as beneficial in growing in the automotive world.

SEMA: What is the best career advice you have received? How has this advice helped you either professionally or personally?

CW: The best career advice I've received is, "If you want to succeed, you need to stand out on your own. People respond to truth and authenticity." It's important to be creative and stand out both in my work and in how I hold myself out in the world.

SEMA: Have you always wanted to work in the automotive industry? What keeps you here?

CW: I did not once see myself in the automotive industry, but I'm sure glad that I found myself here. Things are always changing, and they're always exciting and fun. The atmosphere is one of the things I love the most. While networking I find that everyone is passionate not only about their specific roles, but also the industry as a whole. It's exciting to be a part of something much more – it’s more like a community.
