Each SEMA Council and Network is led by a Select Committee, a small group of volunteers who are elected by the council or network they represent. The Select Committee meets throughout the year to develop programs, events, education opportunities and other resources that will be of value to its council or network membership.
Elected Select Committee members serve a minimum of a two-year term. In order to be considered as a candidate, you must be employed by a current SEMA member company and be a member of the council or network in which you are interested in volunteering.
Select committee members contribute anywhere from 5-10 hours per month pending their volunteer commitments. Members are required to attend monthly Select Committee meetings, yearly long-range planning meeting and Council Summit every other year.
Volunteers serving on a Select Committee possess strong strategic planning skills, have significant aftermarket knowledge and experience, and a passion for giving back to their industry. It's a great way to connect with other leaders in specific market segments, address pressing issues or concerns, make a positive difference and have fun with other like-minded individuals.
Joanna Agosta Shere, Steel Rubber Products - ARMO Chair-Elect
"Volunteering for a SEMA Council Select Committee gives you a window into the industry and allows you to impact the direction of the organization. Personally, I have grown industry connections and learned a lot from my fellow members to better my organization and myself."
Todd Steen, Jackson Marketing Group - WTSBC Chair
"I think people would agree that volunteering with SEMA can offer you an opportunity to meet new people, grow your network and form some solid relationships that can have a lasting impact on your career. But I also believe volunteering offers us a chance to hone our skills, learn something from the other side of the coin we've been chasing and gain a new perspective on our industry."
Understanding your business objectives allows you to better align SEMA resources that can help you achieve your goals.
